One of the best ways to market your company or organization is to share testimonials from satisfied customers. You’ve probably seen this done in print where words appear in quotes followed by a name. It’s not a bad way to do it but if you want to make your testimonials more believable and effective, have them appear on camera.
The reason on camera testimonials are so effective is because viewers can see the sincerity in the eyes and on the faces. Whenever I see printed testimonials I’m really not sure they are real or fake, especially when only a first name is listed.
Lining up testimonials is fairly easy. Choose long-time customers that you’ve developed a good relationship with. Pick somebody who is articulate and will look good on camera. One of the most important things to tell them is to not memorize what they are going to say. Most of the time this doesn’t work because it comes off as scripted and phoney. Testimonials work best if they are unrehearsed and unscripted. We’ll record several versions of each testimonial and choose the one that’s best.
